Gluten-Free Pumpkin and Peanut Butter Dog Treats---
Just like their human counterparts, there are a number of unfortunate dogs that have allergies or are intolerant to ingredients like wheat and gluten. There are also dogs that have adverse reactions to meat byproducts, preservatives, sugar, and any number of chemicals found in treats made commercially.
Making homemade dog goodies filled with only natural and healthy ingredients is a cheaper alternative to the gourmet treats found in specialty stores. There are many health benefits of pumpkin for our canine (and feline) companions.
Since there are no food coloring, preservatives, or artificial ingredients, we can feel good about feeding them to our fur babies.
Let's bake some dog goodies!
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 15 oz. can pumpkin puree ( not pumpkin pie filling)
- 4 tbsp. natural peanut butter
- 4 cups gluten free flour
- 1 cup gluten free oats
- 2 eggs
DIRECTIONS:
- Preheat oven to 350.
- In a mixing bowl, combine all ingredients until dough forms.
- Pour dough onto a floured surface.
- Dust your hands and rolling pin with gluten-free flour, and roll out to about 1/2 inch thick.
- Cut into shapes with a cookie cutter, the dough keeps its shape really well so you can use any puppy-inspired shape that you desire.
- Place on cookie sheet covered in parchment paper.
- Bake for 30 to 35 minutes util a golden brown color.
VOILA! You have homemade, super yummy doggie treats!
